Python for AI
Learn Python from the ground up and apply it to real AI work — automation, data handling, and building with AI tools and APIs.
Python is the language behind most real AI work — the scripts that clean data, the code that calls an AI model's API. This program teaches it from zero, in step with Harvard's CS50 curriculum.

Your eight-week roadmap
An overview of the program, not the lesson reader — enrolled students get the full lesson content inside their dashboard.
Week 1
Getting Started
- What a programming language is, and why Python
- Comments and the print function
- Variables and the input function
By the end of this week, you can: Set Python up on your own computer and write your first working programs.
Week 2
Data, Text & Decisions
- Data types, and how Python tells them apart
- Working with and cleaning text
- Your first CS50 problem set, submitted
By the end of this week, you can: Work confidently with Python's core data types and manipulate text the way a real program would.
Week 3
Numbers, Logic & Functions
- Arithmetic, rounding, and random numbers
- Comparison and logical operators
- if / elif / else, and writing your first function
By the end of this week, you can: Write programs that make decisions, and package logic into your own functions.
Week 4
Loops & Repetition
- The for loop and range
- break, continue, and pass
- Nested loops and the while loop
By the end of this week, you can: Use loops to process data and repeat work without writing the same line twice.
Week 5
Data Structures & Error Handling
- Building, indexing, and slicing a list
- Sorting and nesting lists
- Catching errors with try / except instead of crashing
By the end of this week, you can: Organize data in lists and keep a program running cleanly when the input isn't perfect.
Week 6
Dictionaries, Modules, APIs & JSON
- Reading from and building a dictionary
- Modules and packages
- Calling an API and reading JSON
By the end of this week, you can: Read and write JSON, and call a real API from your own Python code.
Week 7
Testing, Files, CSV & Regex
- Testing your own code with pytest
- Reading and writing files and CSV data
- Pattern matching with regular expressions
By the end of this week, you can: Test your own code, work with files and spreadsheets, and validate input with regular expressions.
Week 8
OOP, Final Project & AI
- Classes, methods, and inheritance
- Your closing CS50 final project
- Calling an AI model directly from Python code
By the end of this week, you can: Design your own classes, finish a closing project, and call an AI model directly from Python.
What you'll build
Checkpoints built into the curriculum above, proposed here for your review.
Your CS50 Final Project
- The challenge
- A real program, of your own design, is the only way to prove you can build — not just follow along.
- What you'll use
- Everything from weeks 1–8
- What you'll have
- A complete program you designed, built, and can submit to Harvard's own free CS50 for an independent certificate.
- Why it matters
- The centerpiece of a beginner's portfolio — proof you can finish, not just start.
A Script That Talks to AI
- The challenge
- Using AI tools by hand only goes so far — real automation calls AI from code.
- What you'll use
- APIs · JSON · an AI model's Python client
- What you'll have
- A small Python program that sends a message to an AI model and handles its reply in code.
- Why it matters
- The exact pattern behind every AI-powered script, bot, or integration you'll build next.
What you'll walk away able to do
Practical, assessable skills built through the roadmap above.
- Read and write core Python syntax, data types, and control flow fluently
- Work with lists, dictionaries, and files to organize and process real data
- Write automated tests for your own code with pytest
- Call an external API and work with JSON, the data format behind most AI tools
- Design your own classes with object-oriented programming
- Call an AI model directly from Python code you wrote yourself
After the course
- Carry what you built — including your CS50 final project — into a portfolio of real work
- Earn a Tekistan certificate for the program
- Keep access to your session recordings
- Take what you've learned into Harvard's own free CS50 course for an additional, independent certificate

This is a sample certificate generated by Harvard's own CS50, shown only to illustrate what that independent, optional certificate looks like. It is not issued by Tekistan and not a Tekistan credential.

Who this program is for
Built for
- Complete beginners with no programming background
- Students who want a real foundation before specializing
- Professionals who want to automate work and handle data with Python
- Anyone who wants to move from using AI tools to building with them
What you need
- No prior programming experience
- Basic computer familiarity
- Time each week for lessons and hands-on practice
Realistically: you'll leave able to write and test real Python programs — not with a guaranteed job or salary.
What you'll need
- A computer with a modern browser and a stable internet connection
- Python installed on your own machine — set up together in week 1
- An API key for an AI model, needed only from week 8 onward
Any API pricing is set by the model provider directly and can change — check their official pricing page for the current rate.
How it's taught
- Live online classes
